Johnson & Johnson – Titusville, NJ
Under the direction of the Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Enterprise organization, this candidate will be primarily responsible for managing all aspects of environmental, health and safety (EH&S) for the J&J Titusville, Horsham and Aviation Operations locations. This role will have responsible for managing EH&S operations to assure compliance with federal, state, and local EH&S regulations, as well as Johnson & Johnson EH&S Standards.
Additional responsibilities include project and site support for Americas Office and Road Safety organization, supervision of associated direct reports or contracted resources, and EH&S compliance support for Innovative Medicine Field Sales teams reporting into the commercial teams. This role will also partner with the site leadership teams to establish and implement an EH&S strategy and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) in alignment with the J&J Enterprise EH&S organization.
Key Relationships
This leader will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Internal: J&J site leadership teams and commercial leadership, Facilities/Contracted Partners, Employee, Health & Wellbeing and J&J Enterprise EH&S organization and SAFE FLEET, Fleet SMEs.
- External: Regulators, 3rd party consultants/assessors and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and manage EH&S responsibilities for Titusville, Horsham and Aviation operations locations.
- Partner with site management to proactively identify, develop and implement Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPAs) to address EH&S program deficiencies and ensure EH&S regulatory compliance.
- Monitor the progress of the CAPAs, providing leadership, technical support and professional expertise to ensure enterprise and site goals are met; assure all records are properly maintained and reports are prepared/submitted in a timely manner.
- Prepare environmental permit applications and negotiate conditions. This individual will understand applicable Federal, State, and local EHS laws and regulations, standards, codes and guidelines and interpret requirements to client groups.
- Develop EH&S objectives for the site – auditing, analyzing, documenting, and reporting on their implementation and effectiveness to management via dashboards & reports.
- Monitor and evaluate EH&S risks of operations, including contractor management, change management, ensuring continuous improvement of the EH&S program to make it leaner and more efficient.
- Provide site leadership with ongoing consultation pertaining to environmental, health and safety regulations and enterprise EH&S initiatives, identifying the impacts of these changes on key business objectives.
- Develop, implement and deliver EH&S training strategy for the sites, ensuring key risk and regulatory requirements are addressed for appropriate audiences, including new hires.
- Develop, support and facilitate site EH&S committees/teams to ensure implementation of the EH&S program.
- Collaborate with the J&J Enterprise EH&S organization working directly with EH&S professionals supporting the Americas Office and Road Safety organization.
- Support the emergency preparedness and response programs.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Science, Engineering or other Technical Field. Master’s degree in environmental science, occupational safety management and/or CSP preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years of EHS experience is required. Experience in managing EH&S programs for Facilities management, office safety and contractor management programs are also preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of USEPA, NJ Department of Environmental Protection, and OSHA regulations.
- Impacts of operations on the environment – air pollution, refrigerants and greenhouse gas requirements, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, chemical management, emergency response, SPCC and protection of wetlands and ground/surface water.
- Technical experience in diverse EH&S areas including but not limited to air, water, tanks, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, office safety, ergonomics, fire/life safety, electrical safety, risk assessment and contractor safety is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated project management skills are required and individual must have technical/working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
- Classroom instructor skills are required.

- Experience is required in identifying, evaluating and controlling EH&S risks in the workplace.
