BISE Free Webinar: Safety: Don’t Just Do It, Feel It

  •  October 6, 2022
     2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The NJ ASSP Chapter is pleased to present this free webinar created by our BISE-Chapter President Corey Jones.

Description

In the United States, the focus for many regarding occupational safety has been on the extent to which what people do keeps the body able to perform a given body of work. This includes the laws, standards, and practices of those in the safety profession. The measure of performance is more often than not centered around lagging indicators such as recordable physical injuries. However, little emphasis has been placed on how actions result in people actually feeling safe.

In the aftermath of the global pandemic, the resulting focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as the Great Resignation have refocused many on the importance of an all-hazard approach to safety that includes mitigation of psychosocial hazards. This presentation is based on one of the first ever occupational health and safety-based studies focused on black workers by a black researcher.
