Corporate Safety Manager

Our client, a major food and beverage distributor, is recruiting for a Corporate Safety Manager in Bronx, NY. This is a full-time position as an employee of our client and REQUIRES commuting to or living in the Bronx, NY area. This is position CANNOT be worked from a remote setting; HOWEVER, relocation assistance within the US is available.

Job Purpose

The incumbent will be responsible for the management and overall direction and oversight of OHS programs, strategy, and staff activities along with related organizational performance standards to support the facility.

Minimum Requirements

  • All potential candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States, employer sponsorship is not available.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College / University in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Management or related discipline
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or related discipline
  • Five (5) or more years of OHS management experience, preferably in warehouse and distribution operations
  • Demonstrated success in developing and utilizing leading and lagging KPIs resulting in driving health and safety metrics lower
  • Demonstrated success in a union, CBA, environment
  • Ability to drive throughout southern New York State

Additional Preferred (not required) Competencies

  • 10 or more years of OHS management experience in manufacturing environments

Major Responsibilities

  • Partner with corporate and local operations leadership and the general workforce and serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding interpretation of federal, state and local OHS regulations
  • Align corporate and local OHS goals and strategies
  • Lead OHS audits and inspections developing remediation plans as needed
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with federal, state and local regulators
  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiative regarding OHS policies and programs
  • Lead employee training programs regarding OHS behaviors and compliance Maintain and ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state and local OHS regulations
